As the various engine designers jostle with one another for market share by adjusting the capabilities of their products, a search engine that was "the best" three months ago for a certain kind of searching may have changed itself, or been surpassed by another engine that has tried to move into its niche. Yahoo, for instance, continues to direct a search directly into categories; some others are using a TV analogy and presenting "channels" to search.
