JUNIOR RESEARCH AUTHOR SIGN UP INSTRUCTIONS

Students should refer to the class handouts for full details of the requirements for this assignment. Each student is to select an author from the approved list contained on the Nolan Library web site. The list of authors is currently available on-line at the Nolan Library website. We recommend that you view this list prior to making your selection and have second and third choices at hand in case you are unable to obtain your first selection (sign up is on a first come/first served basis). It is also a good idea to conduct research on your author prior to selection. This can be accomplished by using the Nolan Library website to access the Literature Resource Center and other sites that have information on authors. We would also suggest that you utilize the Fort Worth library website at http//:www.fortworthlibrary.org. This website contains information on the authors, the number of works available and links to the library location where the books may be found.

Once you have made your selection there will be a manual sign up procedure. Your teacher will advise you of the sign up dates, times and location. All selections will be on a first come/first served basis so be sure you have a second and third selection.  No changes will be allowed until after the initial sign up period is completed. Should you find an American author you would like to research that is not on the list, you must contact your teacher for specific approval prior to the start of sign up. You must have approval from your teacher for any unlisted author. If you have not made a selection at the end of the sign up period your teacher will assign an author to you.

ENGLISH III-AMERICAN LITERATURE

LIST OF WRITERS FOR RESEARCH PAPER

Note: Novels and stories that are already a part of the curriculum at Nolan Catholic High School, including summer reading, may not be used as primary source material i.e. you cannot use such material as the only work that you read. You may use the material as a supplemental source in your paper.  An * indicates that the material is available in a Tarrant county public library.

Several authors have the notation "Limited Resource." This means that there is a minimal amount of research material available on that particular author at libraries in Tarrant County, including the Nolan Catholic High School Library. If you select one these "Limited Resource" authors, you will most likely have to rely on the Internet and sources outside local libraries to secure sufficient information to complete your research paper.
