Citing References in a Bibliography

The following guidelines for the construction of a bibliography are based on the 6th edition of the Modern Language Association of America's style manual, MLA Handbook for Writers of Research papers, 6th ed. (Ref 808.027 GIB). This style is used primarily by those in the arts and humanities disciplines. This helpful guide is only an outline of what is covered in chapter 5 of the MLA Handbook, which should be consulted for a further explanation of the citation styles. For in-text citations, see chapter 6 of the MLA Handbook.

Bibliography / Works Cited

The bibliography or works cited list is usually arranged alphabetically by author's last name, with anonymous works arranged by the first significant word in the title. The entire list should be double-spaced throughout each entry, and the lines after the first line of each entry should be indented 5 spaces.
